NEXT LEVEL: Thanksgiving Survival Guide!

Nov. 21, 2012
Hello Folks!
Ready for your day of feasts, family and fun? We are ready—and ready to do it right! Here at NEXT LEVEL, we pride ourselves on exercising balance over the holiday season. When you have everything in moderation, you can better appreciate the quality of your food and the overall holiday experience. It’s important to treat yourself to the one or two items you love (small slice of pecan pie, perhaps?), and balance out these choices with: 1) healthy side dishes (green beans! Baked yams!) and  2) exercise throughout the day.

“Exercise on a holiday??”, you may ask in disbelief! Well you better believe it. Just because you don’t want to do a full-on workout that day, doesn’t mean you can’t do fun activities that torch calories at well! Here are some examples of easy calorie burning activities that will benefit your holiday and your waistline!

-Cooking (standing) your favorite foods*: 140 cal/hr
            *150lb client*

            -Playing Cards/Board games: 102 cal/hr

-Cleaning up the kitchen: 157 cal/hr

-Playing Tag with your kids: 30-90 cal/15 min*
            *depends how fast you run!*

            -Wii Bowling: 77 cal/15 min

By doing some of the activities you love, you can easily stave off those excess lbs and feel fit and fabulous this holiday season. Just because you don’t see your favorite past time on this list doesn’t mean that it’s not a valuable exercise tool on your day off! There’s only one trick to keep in mind: KEEP MOVING! Movement=Calories Burned. It’s as simple as that!
