Preparing your body for seasonal change

9/24/12

Well we're heading into the fall and the winter months of the year and we need to get our heads around less light and more dark. This isn't a challenge unless we don't make adjustments to a few things:

  1. Sleep: Get a full 6 - 8 hours. You may have to tape your favorite show and watch it at a earlier time. But with less light it can affect your sleep habits.
  2. Food: Make sure you have breakfast and then make sure you have food available throughout the day to keep your energy up so that you don't binge eat.
  3. Schedule: Make your schedule as user friendly as possible. Ration your time and commitments as best as possible. Try not to over extend yourself.
  4. Mood: Do your best to think positive thoughts. When stressed find outlets so that your not overwhelmed. Also, get yourself in the light as much as possible. Light is good for the brain.
  5. Pick your training schedule wisely: Morning or evening? It depends on your schedule and attitude. Sometimes mixing up a class at different times can help you recharge you batteries and keep you productive and happy.
So these are just a few thoughts to help you get the most out of the upcoming months which has a tendency to wreck havoc on our lives with holidays, rain and darkness.

Hope this helps. If there are other things that you feel could be beneficial please share.

regards,
