Holidays are HERE!! No excuses for losing focus!!

If you have been here on this earth for any length of time. You'll know from experience that this is the time of year for holiday cheer and merriment. Because it's Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanzaa or Hanukkah shouldn't exclude us from maintaining our fitness activity and staying the course which is to get healthy and stay that way.

Lately a number of clients have approached the fitness oracle (me) and confessed (sorry, "shared") some of their eating habits with me. My response to all of that is you that you know the answer and you want me to validate your choices. NOT!!!

Stop "demonizing" food and recognize that the challenge is the amount we are eating rather than the food itself. All foods have some form of labeling. On the back is a chart quantifying what the serving size is for that food. Become conscious and familiarize yourself with each and every food you eat so that you can see what the amount of energy you are ingesting each time you sit down for a meal.

As always fitness is the "antidote". I did my #'s for this year. From Jan 09 -Dec 09. The avg visit per client was 2.75 days per week. I know some of you come more but this is a gross average. It should be more like 3 or higher. So all of us need to work on frequency and as a result we'll see all these other parameters fall in line: diet, sleep, social.

So let's as a collective group stay the course now and strive forward together to continue to reach our own personal NEXT LEVEL.

  1. Consistency in exercise and in portion control is the golden ticket to health and good body image. Thanks for putting it all in perspective, especially at this "difficult" time of year!
